Yes, most of our top finishers ride road bikes on the sand. Since the race takes place on the lowest tide of the month, the sand is hard packed and easy to navigate. Occasionally bikers will have to carry their bikes over seaweed and other natural obstacles, but that’s what makes the race so fun and unique.
At low tide, any wide tire bike will really fly on the damp sand! The start time coincides with a very low ocean tide. In most areas, the course will be 50’ to 100’ wide, although the best riding and running is usually at the water’s edge. Bike helmets are required for all cyclists under the age of 18. The organizers will follow the riders on the beach in a vehicle to provide assistance and first aid.
Not if you rinse your bike after the race. Your entry fee includes a fresh water rinse and a free chain lube.
Yes, the finish line closes 2 1/2 hours after the race begins.
Yes, there will be 3 water stations along the course.
Yes. There is no additional fee.

Coronado Rotary Low Tide Ride and Stride
P.O. Box 180487, Coronado, CA 92178-0487
Alternatively, take advantage of online registration.
Please note that the team must be created on the online registration page before we can add members to it. If we get a paper registration for an individual to participate on a team and no team has been created online, we cannot add them and they will have to be contacted.
In addition, youths should registered individually at the $25 price, but can participate on the team. We a question about this because there is only one team price ($40), which is a discount off of the adult price, but more than the youth price.
